A heartbreaking yet heartwarming moment was caught on CCTV as a determined mother dog braved a torrential downpour to carry her vulnerable puppy to safety. With her pup gently held in her mouth, she made her way through the rainy streets of Beylikduzu, Turkey, and arrived at a veterinary clinic seeking help.
The Beylikduzu Alfa Veterinary Clinic shared this touching story on Facebook, naming the stray dog “Mom.” The video showed her unwavering in her mission, navigating the rain-soaked roads to bring her pup to the clinic’s doorstep.
“When I checked it with a needle, we noticed a very slow heartbeat,” recalled Baturalp Dogan, a veterinarian at the clinic. Emir, a veterinary technician, was about to pronounce the puppy dead when he detected the faintest sign of life through his stethoscope. Grasping the slim chance of survival, the team quickly sprang into action, warming the puppy with a hair dryer and administering an adrenaline shot.
Throughout the process, Mom stayed close by, watching intently as the team worked to save her pup. Her dedication and care didn’t go unnoticed, as Baturalp and the clinic staff worked tirelessly to nurse the little one back to health. Their efforts paid off, and the puppy survived.
The veterinary team noted that Mom had lost four of her six puppies prior to arriving at the clinic. A neighbor had reportedly brought one of her other surviving puppies to the clinic earlier that day. Since Mom was unable to produce enough milk for her babies, the clinic supplemented their diets to ensure their recovery.
“They are doing very well right now, they are in good health. They are getting better day by day,” Baturalp shared. Footage posted by the clinic shows Mom nursing her two puppies, all steadily growing stronger under their care.
